i am wondering if a theme is starting. a few weeks before my half mary in myrtle beach, i got sick. i self diagnosed it as a sinus infection. i took a whole slew of medications to that race.
3 weeks from today, at this time, i should be done with my 3rd half mary, the disney princess. and 2 days ago the symptoms of illness arrived. what is up with me the last 6 months? i have gone from not being sick to now having the 3rd go round of SOMETHING!
anyway, maybe this is a new tradition. my foot and ankle have been hurting (i have trained, off a loosely based plan, not the best idea, but i am trying) on the treadmill. aka the dreadmill. it has been nothing but cold, snow, and ice here the last month. i tried running in snow, which totally sucked and my body paid for it. i am putting off getting new shoes, which could be the problem, but my current ones should be able to hold out a little longer. so i think this week i will be resting my foot more, and icing it more.
so i am sick, with a sore (i hope that is all it is) ankle/foot. i have gotten long runs in on that dreadmill that is slowly falling apart. i can't keep track of the mileage b/c the screen does not work anymore. so i run for a certain time. the last one was 2 hours. my big concern is being outside and that is different than a dreadmill. hopefully my body hasn't forgotten what running outside is like, b/c it does not look promising here in the cold, snowy tundra that i will be out there any time soon.
i am not going for time with this race, but a tiny part of me will be trying for that. i doubt i will beat my myrtle beach time, b/c i plan to stop along the route and smell the roses! but i do hope to at least beat my disney world half marathon time from last year at least. we'll see. i am excited for this race though. the feeling of running up main street toward the castle is undescribable......and all the support along the way is awesome, and uplifting. i get teary just thinking about it.
i hope my poor sister feels ok too......she has been dealing with a sinus infection for the last few months, or at least that is what we think it is. she finally got some meds to help her feel better! take care kim, we have lots to do in a few weeks! it'll be her birthday while we are on vacation!
and so it begins. the final weeks. the countdown. disney princess here i come. not sure what i am looking forward to more....the fun of the race, or the warm weather. yay!
