Disneyland
i was able to go on a getaway to disneyland with aunt linda for some fun. it was a rather last minute trip, and i was not at all prepared (for the expense), but threw caution to the wind and went. it was awesome. we decided we needed to get some west coast air. the big thing was to find aunt linda's disney brick that was given to her as a gift. found it! we enjoyed all the halloween fun that is happening in disneyland park. it was a wonderful getaway, and one i want to just go back on.
Sick
i came home, and a week later i was sick. it's been 23 days now. a cough has invaded me and decided to live in my chest. it's been hard and bad. 23 days (and counting, it's still here!) of literally coughing every few minutes has taken a toll on me, but i think i am on the mend (after lots of medicine and antibiotics). hurray! i hope i have some good, tight abs after all this hacking. i even pulled a back muscle.
Running plans
so since i have been sick, i have not run in nearly a month. i gave myself a week off after my california trip, due to the "after a trip depression". then i started up again the week i became sick, and that didn't go too well.
originally, at the start of 2011, i had the crazy thought to try the full disney world marathon in january 2012. i am glad i didn't sign up. if i had, my training would have stopped and i would have panicked. it is still a race i am unsure about, the training for it as well as actually doing the race, which is one reason i didn't sign up, among some others.
i'll be starting from scratch with running and all exercise. it's been nice to be lazy, but i also feel the effect of doing nothing. there was no way to run with this cough. i am hoping soon to start back again. good thing i chose not to do any fall races, or even the disney half in january, b/c i literally would have missed a good chunk of training. and to think 6 months ago i was considering doing the full disney world marathon. good thing that didn't happen, i would have been in major freak out mode this past month!
i want to do a half marathon. i like them. i really, really want the coast to coast medal that disney offers. of course getting it won't be cheap. to earn that, i need to do a disney world and a disneyland race in the same calendar year. my thought is to do the princess half again, and then the disneyland half in september, and get that special medal. the 2nd thought is to do the disneyland half in september, and the wine n dine half at wdw in october......a month apart. that would be fun, but financially so close it'd be hard to handle.
disney races are not cheap. the entry fee is more than "normal" and expensive. then there is the travel expense. at this point in time, it's not even an option for me to do these races, but i am going to try like heck to get myself in them.
i feel like i need a big race to do, i miss that excitement of the race day and i feel like i need something to work toward. sometimes having a goal like that is good for me.
and i really want that coast to coast medal. it's very nice and pretty and shiny.
i also plan to do the cleveland half again this spring, but that is almost a given. it's cheap (compared to disney) and i live here. it's easy!
so that is what has been happening. a little travel and a lot of thinking and too much coughing!

Maggie! It is good to hear from you again! I love the shiny, pretty medal being a motivation for you! I can totally relate. I am sorry that you've been so sick. Have you tried taking a couple tablespoons a day of local honey? It totally works! I just ran a 10k at the beginning of October....did not PR....missed it by a minute, but I relate to have a race to look forward to to keep me motivated to run. Oh...I LOVE Disney in it's Halloween finery. I think I like it better than at Christmas! So fun that you had a chance to go do that. How has your Ohio fall been? Ours has been warm and colorful! My favorite!!!
