addy runs her first race.

it is marathon weekend in cleveland, and addy participated too!  i signed my running buddy up to run in the kids' race.  she was so excited.  she practiced, and eagerly anticipated this race.

the race was held in browns stadium, right on the field.  addy was in the 4 to 6 year old group, and they ran 100 yards, from one end of the field to the other.

waiting to get down to the field was the worst part, having to endure some speeches that really couldn't be heard due to speaker malfunctions.  first we cheered on the "under 3" group, then it was her turn.

we left our cheerleaders in the stands (gramma/mom, aunt linda, and mommy/my sister) and headed down to the field.  it was pretty cool to be on the field!

they did some warm up exercises led by a clown from the circus, and then took their stances.  addy flew as they said "go!!", no hesitation on her part.  i tried hard to run behind her, and not lose her.  luckily i kept up.....the girl can fly!  she had a smile on her face the entire time, and absolutely loved it.

she crossed the finish line and said "phew!!  i sweaty!  that was fun!".  i told her i was so proud of her, and we shared a nice long hug.  and she told me she was proud of me, which made me giggle.  i was proud to have kept up with her!

she recieved her very much anticipated medal, she was so proud of it.  i was too!  as we headed back to the stands, she told a volunteer that she "won the race!", full of excitement.

it was a great time!

so proud!  i love this photo....she is so proud and happy to have her own medal, she looked forward to this for weeks and it is finally in her hands.  it is all in her face and those eyes.  she did it.
