a few weekends ago, my mom, aunt, cousin, and i went to visit "a christmas story" house and museum. this is the home that was used in the 1984 movie "a christmas story". it was filmed right here in cleveland! the interior of the house was used for filming the movie, as well as outside, and other places around town. it was fun to see it. the setting of the movie was in the 30's or 40's, so it is decorated with that time frame in mind, and to coincide with the movie. the leg lamp was in the front window, the bars of soap prominently displayed in the bathroom, the infamous gift desired by "ralphie" on display by the christmas tree (the bb gun). the movie was filmed at this house, as well as at downtown Higbees department store.....i vaguely remember my mom taking us down to higbees during the filming, to see the "santa slide" set up in the store. i remember it seeming big, tall, and pink! i have not watched this movie in years, and i think i need to watch it again after having gone through the house and the museum. the museum was full of props and clothing used during the filming, as well as scripts, photos (professional and from personal collections), and remnants from the sets. it was very interesting. we even go to meet "ralphie's" little brother "randy", actor ian petrella.
here are the photos!

"frageee-lay"!

so we had to make fools of ourselves and try on the hats and scarves on the coat rack....my mom got the pilot hat (?) that one of the kids wore in the film, i got the pink bunny hat (ralphie had to wear pink bunny pj's in the film), and the other 2 got the scarves!

i need to watch this movie again, i remember "ralphie" (actor peter billingsley) more from the chocolate milk commercial than the movie!

bathroom set up just like in the movie where ralphie had to put soap in his mouth for his punishment....yuck!

it was a fun afternoon! now i need to watch the movie again, after being here, and hearing some of the stories about the filming of the movie, and seeing all the museum displays.

That was really fun and your pictures are great. The movie is on TBS for 24 straight hours at Christmas and I usually see bits and pieces, but plan on watching the whole thing straight through this year.
That looks like SO MUCH fun! What a great way to spend the day with your family!
